Environmental work

Whatever the environmental benefits of recycling, it is also important that we all do what we can in our own operations to minimise our environmental impact.

We have a management system with an environmental policy to continuously plan, implement, monitor and respond to our environmental impacts. By way of example, we set internal environmental targets for energy use, waste generation and material consumption.

Examples of environmental improvements during the year:

  • Installation of geothermal heating and free cooling - Replaces oil heating and air conditioning in server rooms and production facilities on hot summer days
  • Virtualisation of servers - fewer energy-using servers are needed for the same task
  • Minimisation of waste - continually work to minimise waste in all its forms
  • Inrego has been ISO 14001 environmentally certified since 2005
  • Inrego is a member of El-kretsen (the business sectors service company for collection and recycling of electrical and electronic products) and REPA (A part of FTI (the Packaging and Newspaper Collection Service)) and registered with the Environmental Protection Agency to assume responsibility for the products and packages we launch on the market.

Environmental collaboration
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation disseminates knowledge, maps environmental threats, and tries to identify constructive solutions to problems. We consider this to be important and we therefore participate as a Gold Sponsor for the Society.

Other collaborations
For some time now IKEA's former global sustainability director Thomas Bergmark has been assisting Inrego in developing and identifying future directions for our sustainability work. With Thomas Bergmark's knowledge and experience we can take the next step to minimise the environmental impact of used IT equipment.
